SENIOR ASSOCIATE Position
Bay Tree Design is a vibrant, award-winning, women-owned, 7-person East Bay firm with a diverse range of projects. We are a design- and research-oriented practice with a reputation for advancing spaces that are designed for children, the elderly, and vulnerable populations. In addition to creating spaces for people our work is focused on sustainability and climate resiliency. We see the these two - healthy people and a healthy environment - linked. We work with innovative Architects, Civil Engineers, and sub-consultants and use forward-looking materials and systems. Our portfolio includes schools and educational projects, civic and community spaces, camps and botanical gardens, farms, and affordable housing. Our work can be viewed at www.baytreedesign.com. Current projects in include:
- Rehabilitation of former Coast Guard facilities to serve as affordable housing in West Marin.
- The development of a non-profit farm and educational center in North Richmond.
- Forest school pilot project in Northern California.
- Retreat center for a Girl Scouts in Marin County.
- A public middle school that includes new furnishings, a forest, and stormwater integration systems.
- Several public-school and private school projects throughout the SF Bay Area focusing on nature play and inclusive design.
We typically work in collaborative teams of two or more people each with specific roles and responsibilities on individual projects. We are looking for a project landscape architect to work on projects from pre-design through construction phase who can oversee junior staff and is competent with construction administration.
We meet in our Berkeley office Tuesday - Thursday and have the option to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. We offer full-time positions from 32- to 40-hours per week.
Qualifications:
Degree in landscape architecture from an accredited landscape architecture program
Strong design and technical skills
Ability to research, problem solve, and iterate design solutions
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Adobe Suite
Strong organizational, writing, and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated interest in BTD’s project expertise
Experience on community-serving projects is a plus
LEED accreditation, green design experience is a plus
Proficiency in Revit and/or Sketchup a plus
