PVSD Ormondale School

While Portola Valley School District sought the community’s involvement in the renovation of Ormondale School (Kindergarten to 3rd grade), BTD worked within the existing and proposed courtyards to provide a fully indoor/outdoor learning experience designed to foster development for all children. Steps from the classrooms, the design includes several nature play structures that provide quiet space for students to do breakout learning sessions or receive the therapy that can be provided by natural settings and a sensory garden. A school edible garden that will provide each student of the 2nd grade with their own garden plot is sited to for maximum sunlight for a productive garden in a space dominated by redwoods that line the adjacent creek.
